Lake Arrowhead

Today my mom had a spur of the moment idea (at 8:30am) to drive up to Lake Arrowhead for the day. I had been feeling pretty down the last two days over Sean being gone, so getting out of the house was exactly what I needed. I had such a good time up there. We ate lunch at this really good pizza place and then walked around the little village, looked at the water and ducks, played on the grass with Jace and he made a friend, and then went shopping in a great childrens boutique. Im telling you, this store was amazing! I at first did not want to go in because I get so tired of stores having a HUGE section for girls, and one tiny rack for boys.... but boy did this store prove me wrong. In fact they probably had a better selection for boys than they did for girls! I even found the cutest sailor outfit for Jace to wear to Sean's graduation, and the best part it was on sale! Yay for great finds! When we got home my aunt and cousins came over and my mom made us dinner, I was in a baking mood so I offered to make some peanut butter cookies for dessert! It ended up being a pretty good day! Hoping to have more of those! On the plus side  10 days closer to seeing Sean :]
Just getting there, using my Ergo.
The best picture I could get of us two.

Just one of those days...

To be honest I dont even know how to sum up my day today. The morning was a complete crap-fest! ;] But it ended up turning around, so lets hope the night will be a better one too! Last night Jace would not fall asleep, he cried and screamed and cried some more... pretty much until 3:30. My mom was wonderful enough to watch him till then. Once she brought him back to me he slept for about an hour and was up again at 4:30 screaming. He then felt the need to stay up until 10:30. He also was on a nursing strike. Im thinking it may have something to do with his ear infection. My aunt came and got Jace and took him to work with her for a few hours. He had a great time with her!! I was able to take a breather and finish cleaning my room, folding and putting away laundry, and emptying our bags from the prior weekend. It was weird I did 5 loads of laundry and somehow Sean had the most stuff to fold and put away, and hes been gone for almost 5 days! Wow time is flying!! WooHoo. Jace definitely had a better afternoon. We took him to yardhouse to celebrate his 6 month birthday! Thats right my baby boy is 6 months old today! It seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital having him! After dinner we stopped by target, where I only had to get ONE thing and walked out with a $38 bill (still not bad for Target, I can cause some serious damage in that store) and then headed to the park (where he slept for the first half, but I did not have the heart to wake him).  Glad that Jace was able to have a better second half of the day! We will blame mine and his bad moods on missing Daddy! :[

Fevers & Goodbyes....

Those two are never a good combination. Jace woke up today feeling slightly warm... well by 3:00pm he was feeling really hot. I took his temperature and it was 102. I called his pediatrician and they got me in to see him within 30 minutes. Jace really is lucky to have a great doctor.  It turns out he has an ear infection in his right ear. Poor little guy has been pretty fussy for the rest of the night. In the middle of all this on the drive home from the doctors Sean got to call me one last time (for a few weeks anyways). He let me know he arrived safely to Illinois and he was all processed and checked in and would be officially starting boot camp! EEEEK. I am so beyond proud of him and what he is doing for our family and our country. I was really happy to have that one last phone call, even if it was only for 20 seconds. Hopefully tomorrow Jace feels much better... and that I feel better about Sean being gone... only 9 more weeks.

Oh so busy...

My oh my... has the time flown by, and I have not updated my blog in forever. I am so sorry (especially to you Kristin I know I've been promising an update for a while) But I am back... and with more time than ever! Well a fast update... Jace will be 6 months in 3 days, eeek and Sean left for basic training today double eeek. Sean will be in basic training for 9 weeks in Great Lakes, Illinois and then off to A School for 14 weeks in San Antonio, Texas.... after school Sean will get stationed some where where we can FINALLY live together. Before Sean left my mom, sister and aunt blessed Sean and I with a mini vacation to San Diego where we could get away and just have some alone time. It was so wonderful, I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. I am so lucky and blessed to have people that support and love us like they do. I know this was a short blog update, but I promise to write more soon. Feels good to be back!

Let freedom ring...

So for the third year in a row our family went over to the Matlock 4th of July BBQ. They have about 25-40 people that come, each family grills their own meat and everyone brings a salad or dessert to share. They have blow up toys, or games for everyone, and then at night they do their own fireworks! It just a great time to be out and enjoy everyones company!

Allergic reactions & extreme heat!

Well the day after Jace tried bananas for the first time, I figured I would give them to him again seeing he did great the first night and really liked them. I waited till it was closer to dinner time to give him more. However when I tried to feed him them, he kept pushing the spoon away or when he did get a mouth full he would spit them out. After just a few minutes of trying, I figured he either was not hungry or just did not like them. I took him and cleaned him off and noticed his cheeks were rashy and rosy red, this worried me but I thought it may be due to the heat... and then when I changed his diaper he had a horrible diaper rash. Only to then notice he had 3 red dry itchy spots. I took this as the sign that he was allergic to the bananas, that was the only need food I introduced him to. Jace is better now, no more rashes and the diaper rash is almost gone. Trying foods can be so scary, you never know what can happen. Its a good thing I stick to the 4 day rule. (1 new food and for 4 days you give them that same food, and wait to see if there is any allergic reaction, this way you know what food was given last and can pinpoint it) In the midst of all that, the temperature here has reached in the triple digits, YUCK! It makes getting out and doing anything impossible. Its even too hot to play in the backyard. Last night at 8pm it was 96 degrees out. So most of the days Jace has been playing in his diaper only or a thin onesie. Remind me again why we live in a house with no central air conditioning!!!
