Man from Milwaukee

This morning I decided it would be fun to drive the hour to Milwaukee as none of us had ever been there. (it's still so weird to me that we are only an hour from there) I had looked up attractions to do while there, of course nothing ever goes as well as it is planned out. But we had a good time. We first went to the historic third ward, well what I didn't know was a huge festival calle summerfest (apparently its really known) was going on. It's a huge music concert and today was family day so we all got in free. It probably would have been really neat had it not been 103 out. So after an hour there we went to eat. I google a few place and this pizza shop called classic slice got great reviews so we went with that. Now driving there was really sketch and not going to lie when I saw it I was very hesitant to go in but we did and the food was soooo good, expensive, but good! After that we went to go see the horticultural domes, what the website failed to tell me was that it cost $7 a person to get in. For starts I was not about to pay that much for us to walk around and look at plants in the heat, I could do that for free outside! i know Kaite and Sean were glad we didnt go i could see the look on their faces when i originally said thats where we going! So I went up to the ticket sales lady and asked if she knew of any other activities around there (Lynne you would have been so proud) so I made the decision to go in the Miller Brew Tour. You know that's what every family should do with their 17 month old! Lol. Oh well, it was interesting. Jace did so well on the hour long tour that consisted of walking outside, up 56 stairs, siting in a factory with no air that was 110 degrees and jace pooping 5 mins into the tour! All while mommy carried him! I can honestly say I earned those two free beers at the end of the tour! We were all pretty much exhausted after that and decided to drive home. On the ride home we ran into a huge Midwest storm which was cool for Kaite to see. After an hour at home I discovered the Vera Bradley outlet (which is an hour away) was having a major sale, so the wonderful husband Sean is said lets go. So we hurried in the car it was 7:08 and it closed at 9! So in total we drove over 250 miles on our adventure today! Hopefully everyone sleeps great tonight, I know I'm exhausted!

4th of July, Midwest style!

So yesterday was 4th of July and our day started off by my cousin Kaitlyn flying in from California to stay with us for 8 days. Since she came in so early, 5:50am we all took naps... 4.5 hours to be exact ha! Then we all got ready to head down to base for their festival. Well this week there is a heat wave in Chicago and they weren't kidding it was 106 out and then add humidity. So we walked around and ate and made it for one hour but then we all thought we were melting/dying so decided to go home and find fireworks somewhere else. We were at home for about two hours, which was just enough time to fit in a watching of toy story (for Jace of course) and then we drove to Libertyville to watch their concert and see some fireworks. Well the Midwest doesn't joke around, the fireworks were pretty grand. And surprisingly jace enjoyed them. After the first one he kept signing more. Then a few more went off and he would look startled and I explained they were going to make a boom but be pretty. And then after every one he would say ohhhhh, ahhhh, boom! He really enjoyed them. And we had a great time. We survived the Midwest heat and our second holiday away from home!

Playing catch up

So I haven't blogged in the past week, sorry, I have just been so busy. And too be honest I can't even tell you that it was anything too grand that kept me busy... But with a very active 17 months old we are always on the go. So very rarely do I have time to sit down and blog. But I did download the blogger app for my iPhone so maybe that will help.

In the last week Sean and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary, June 25th! His shipmate and good friend Bobby offered to babysit for us so we could go to dinner and a movie. That was the first time we had ever used a babysitter in Jace's whole life. An I was very glad that we left Jace in Bobby's care. Jace truly loves Bobby and is always so excited when he is around ! Jace was so good for him, they played, watched baby signing time, and snuggled on the couch! Sean and I got to enjoy dinner at my favorite, Olive Garden (even though there was a huge middle school girls soccer conference there) and got to see the Avengers, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED! We had a really great date night and it was nice to not have to worry about Jace, it was a plus hobby sent me pictures updates every so often!

We went on a play date at Pump It Up for toddler time with our next door neighbor and her two boys! Jace was still too little to do anything on his own but I was willing to get up and do the climbers and slides with him, and that didn't let it stop him from having a great time!

And we bought a new car!!!!! A 2010 Chevy Traverse! We knew we needed a new car one that would accommodate a potential growing family (no Mom, Lynne and Grandma that is not an announcement) but in the next year or two we would eventually like to add another member to the family. Plus we needed AWD for the winters out here, I don't quite think the Yaris would cut it. So we are in love with it, even Jace and Molly like it!
