A traumatic trip to the zoo

My aunt Lynne called me on Saturday and asked if we wanted to go to the Santa Ana Zoo, which we of course agreed to! After a hectic morning of trying to figure out the driving arrangements we were on our way 1.5 hours later. This zoo is more of your local zoo style, with birds, small monkeys, farm animals, etc. We had been there about an hour and were nearing the end of the animal exhibits when we went into the "amazon" we were standing on a deck watching two black swans. As we were getting ready to head on a mama duck and her 6 or 7 baby ducklings swam by. Everyone was gushing over how sweet these little ducklings were well not even 30 seconds had passed before a swan started attacking the ducklings. In a matter of a minute he had killed 3 of them. It was like watching a shark with a seal, it was awful. I kid you not everyone was going crazy trying to get this swan to stop. Someone almost threw a soda can at the swan, people were screaming it was chaos. After a few minutes went by and a zoo worker came to the situation. We were told that while it was so sad the habitat was intended for the swans and the ducks are actually wild and so the cant do much to protect them. It was a wry traumatic experience, and my little cousin who witnessed the whole thing was very upset. So upset we ended up leaving immediately after. So our really fun two hours before that were put off due to the duck incident. Besides that viewing we had a great two hours there before hand. The babies enjoyed the mini train ride the best, and I love watching how excited Jace gets!
